Gentlemen:

I am directed by the Attorney General to acknowledge, through the reference of the Secretary of the Interior, your letter to him of the 18th ultimo—and in compliance with your request to enclose herewith the papers transmitted in your letter of the 12th of December last, in support of an alleged claim against the United States.
