March 18, 1871. William McMichael, Esq. Philadelphia, Penn. Sir: I have to inform you that you have been nominated and confirmed as Solicitor of Internal Revenue, and that your commission will be made out at once. It is desirable that you should come to Washington as early as possible. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney Gen'l.
