Sir:
I have received your letter of the 25th ult., with papers enclosed, all relating to a proposed compromise of a suit ag't one Archibald Linn, pending in court in the District of Maine, and arising under the Internal Revenue laws of the United States.
The compromise proposed is that Linn shall pay
as tax | $2786:41 |
as assessed penalty | 1393:20 |
as specific penalty | 2106:80 |
In all | $6286:41 |
This compromise the Commissioner of Internal Revenue has decided to make, and you have consented to it. I have examined the papers, and recommend that the compromise be made upon the terms above stated. The papers enclosed with your letter are returned herewith.
