Sir:

The Attorney General directs me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 2d inst. and to say that in accordance with your request, you are hereby granted a leave of absence for two months. I have also, as desired by you, arranged that the draft for your salary shall be sent to you at Kewannee, Illinois.
