June 9, 1869.

Hon. Hamilton Fish,

Secretary of State.

Sir:

I have been informed by telegraph that the Commission of Henry W. Moulton, as Marshal of the U. S. for the Terr. of Idaho, sent from this office on the 20th of April last, has failed to reach its destination. Circumstances in the Terr. render it important that Mr. Moulton should enter on his duties at once, and I have therefore the honor to request that you cause a duplicate commission to be issued in his case.

Very Resp. your, obd't serv't,

E. R. Hoar,

Attorney General.
