June 29, 1869.

Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell,

Secretary of the Treasury.

Your letter of the 26th inst. with accompanying papers, relative to the Internal Revenue case of Hogel Fisher & Co., was received to-day.

I recommend the acceptance of the terms of the compromise as proposed by the Commissioner, namely, that Hogel Fisher & Co. pay $400 as tax, $200 as assessed penalty, and $600 as specific penalty, and all costs.

Very respectfully,

W. A. Field,

Acting Attorney General.
