June 3, 1871. Hon. O. F. Strickland, Asso. Justice Salt Lake City, Utah Terr. Sir: It has been represented to the President that you are interested in mining claims similarly situated as to title with other claims which are in litigation before you as Judge. If such be the fact, your continuance in office will be obviously improper. Will you report upon the truth of this representation? Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
