Nov. 28, 1871, A. Stirling, Jr. Esq. U.S. Attorney, Baltimore, Md. Sir: At the request of Mr. E. A. Rollins, I enclose herewith certified copies of a telegram from S. G. Courtney, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to J. Hubley Ashton, Acting Attorney General, bearing date the 8th of September, 1868, and of a letter in reply thereto, from Mr. Ashton, of the same date. Very respectfully, A. J. Falls, Chief Clerk.
