Sir:
You are hereby retained as special Assistant to the District Attorney of the United States for Utah in the trials of the criminal cases against Brigham Young, now pending in that Territory.
For this service, you will be paid a reasonable compensation, to be determined by this Department.
You will take, and transmit to this Department, the oath required of District Attorneys.
