Aug. 26, 1871. Mr. R. L. T. Beall, Hague, Westmoreland Co. Va. Sir: All that I can do in reference to the subject of your letter of the 18th instant, is to refer you for information as to the cases in which the Supreme Court of the United States will review the action of the State Courts, to the twenty-fifth Section of the Judiciary Act of September 24, 1789, which you will find in the 1st vol. U. S. Statutes, pp. 85-6. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
