Sept. 6, 1871. Mr. W. H. Baker, Savannah, Geo. Sir: I have received your letter of the 29th ultimo, and in reply inform you that several weeks ago a direction was given from this office to dismiss the appeal in the case of the cotton claim of the estate of J.
