Sir: I enclose herewith a Commission appointing you to the office of Attorney of the United States for Utah Territory, and request that you will be pleased to inform this Department of the receipt of it, and, if it should be accepted, to transmit a copy of your official oath, and furnish me with the name of the state or county in which you were born.
