Sept. 20, 1871. Messrs. Lewis & Fullerton, Washington, D. C. Gentlemen: I have received through your reference, the letter addressed to you by Mr. B. J. Spalding relative to Ku Klux matters in Alabama. The Attorney General is now absent from the city—but immediately on his return the letter will be laid before him. Very respectfully, A. J.
