Sept. 30, 1871. A. B. Williams, Esq. Washington, D. C. Sir: You are hereby appointed special assistant to the District Attorney of the U. S. for the District of Columbia for 30 days at a compensation of $300. You will take, and file in this Department, the oath required by law of District Attorneys. Very respectfully, B. H. Bristow, Solicitor Gen'l. and Acting Attorney Gen'l.
