Sir:
I am directed by the Solicitor General and Acting Attorney General to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th instant, relative to the pension claim of Mason Michaels; and in reply have to inform you that, as the subject referred to is entirely within the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Interior, and with which, consequently, this Department has no connection whatever, your letter has been referred to the Secretary of the Interior for such action as he may deem proper.
