Sir:
I am directed by the Solicitor General and Acting Attorney General to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th instant, and to inform you that, in compliance with request therein made, the clerk from the State of Maryland, employed in this Department, will be permitted to attend the ensuing election, to be held in their State in November, and a reasonable leave of absence will be granted for that purpose.
