Nov. 10, 1871. W. H. Ward, Esq. Hamburg, S. C. Sir: I have received yours of the 30th ult. There have been many applicants for the Savannah Collectorship—but all have been thus far disappointed, for the office is not vacant. Very respectfully, Amos T. Akerman.
