Sir:
I am directed by the Attorney General to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th ultimo, and to inform you that this Department issues no instructions to U. S. Commissioners as to the discharge of the duties.
I enclose for your information a copy of the Act of Congress approved Feb'y 26th, 1853, prescribing fees of U. S. Commissioners.
Brightley's Digest can be purchased in this city of W. H. & O. H. Marrison, at a cost of $16.
The two dollars, ($2,00) enclosed in your letter is herewith returned.
