March 27, 1871.
Hon. Hamilton Fish,
Secretary of State.
Sir:
In pursuance of your wishes and those of the Secretary of the Treasury, I directed the District Attorney of the Eastern District of Michigan to release two vessels seized for violation of the revenue laws, and also to discontinue all proceedings against Mr. Little, the owner.
I enclose a copy of the letter from the District Attorney, from which it appears that these directions have been complied with.
Very respectfully, &c.
A. T. Akerman,
Attorney General.
