Aug. 12, 1871. Hon. Wm. W. Belknap, Secretary of War. Sir: In pursuance of the request in your letter of the 10th inst. the U.S. Attorney at New Orleans has been directed to appear in defence of the interests of the Government, in the proceedings of the city of New Orleans against the creation of buildings on the Government wharf. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
