Sir:
Referring to your letter of the 15th ultimo, asking for information touching certain private land claims, I have the honor to enclose herewith a copy of a letter addressed to this Department on the 16th instant, by J. R. Beckwith, Esq. the Attorney of the U.S. for the District of Louisiana, and the statement relating to such land claims, referred to. I also enclose the account of the clerk of the District Court of the U.S. for that District for making said statement.
