Sept. 25, 1871. Alexander Johnston, Esq. Assistant Attorney General's Office, Court of Claims. Sir: I enclose herewith certain original papers relative to the case of Mervin N. Jones, which were sent to this Department by the Secretary of War in a letter bearing date the 16th inst. When you shall have done with these papers, I desire that you will transmit them to this Department, in order that they may be returned to the Secretary of War. Very respectfully, B. H. Bristow, Solicitor General, and Acting Attorney General.
