Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 4th inst. transmitting certain papers relative to the attack upon the house and person of the Spanish Consul at Key West, Florida, and to inform you that the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has been directed to take such measures as may be necessary to bring the guilty parties to punishment.
