I enclose, herewith, for your information, a copy of a letter addressed to this Department on the 12th instant, by J. H. Pierce, Esq. Marshal of the U.S. for the Northern Dist. of Mississippi, in relation to certain alleged representations made to you by Mr. Huggins, his Deputy now in Washington, as to the necessity and importance of having additional sent to his District.
