Sir:
Referring to your letter of the 5th of September last, enclosing a copy of a communication addressed to you by J. Hubley Ashton, relative to matters before the Commission of the United States and Mexico, I now have the honor to enclose the affidavit of Don Manuel Castro, obtained as requested by Mr. Ashton, through the Attorney of the U.S. for the Dist. of California, which I will thank you to case to be sent to him.
