Hon. L. P. Poland,

St. Johnsburg, Vermont.

Dear Sir:

Your letter of the 16th ult. came in my absence.

There is yet no vacancy in the District Attorneyship of New Mexico. I am not aware that any is contemplated. The effort which you supposed was to be made to obtain the office for Mr. Catron has not yet been manifested here.
