I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 13th instant, enclosing a Report of G. W. F. Vernon, Esq. special agent of the Treasury Department, relative to alleged misconduct of Leander Holmes, Esq. Dist. Attorney of Washington Terr., and to inform you that Mr. Holmes has been called upon for a response to the grave charges made by Mr. Vernon.
