Dec. 15, 1871. Hon. Hamilton Fish, Secretary of State. Sir: I am directed by the President to request you to issue a Commission appointing Edward B. Johnson to the office of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of New Mexico; and Joseph W. Fisher to the office of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Wyoming, agreeably to the enclosed resolution of the Senate. Very respectfully, A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
