Dec. 14, 1871. Hon. Geo. S. Boutwell, Secretary of the Treasury. Sir: The papers in the case of Jan Aling, Cornelius De Jong, and William Amidon, are herewith returned. There appears to be no necessity for further action in this case, a pardon having been granted in October to these parties by the President. Very respectfully, &c. A. T. Akerman, Attorney General.
