Creator: Walt Whitman
Date: Before 1856
Whitman Archive ID: uva.00289
Source: Papers of Walt Whitman (MSS 3829), Clifton Waller Barrett Library of American Literature, Albert H. Small Special Collections Library, University of Virginia. Transcribed from digital images of the original. For a description of the editorial rationale behind our treatment of manuscripts, see our statement of editorial policy.
Editorial note: The poem proposed here is likely related to both "Pictures," a lengthy manuscript poem held at the Beinecke Library at Yale University that was probably written in the mid- to late-1850s, and "Poem of Salutation," first published in the 1856 edition of Leaves of Grass and later retitled "Salut au Monde!" Therefore, the date of this manuscript is probably before 1856.
